The 5% Project
At Shining Peak we’re strong believers that every business should have a social mission at its core. Our mission is for our beer to make the world a better place.
Every month 5% of our beer revenues from our venues, are donated to a different local Taranaki organisation. Not profits…… revenues, that’s approximately 30 to 50% of our venue’s profit – we give away to local organisations each and every month. No terms and conditions, no small print – we just put the money straight into the back pockets of important local organisations and charities here in Taranaki.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Taranaki
Big Brothers Big Sisters offers two types of mentoring; community based and school based for young people. It works by matching adult volunteers with a young person, and they spend time together doing things they both enjoy for a minimum of 1 hour per week, every week. Our volunteer mentors become consistent, positive role models in the lives of these children – fostering a friendship and having fun together. Mentoring has proven to enhance resilience, reduce risk factors, builds confidence, and provides young people with perspectives and opportunities for a better future.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Taranaki now has over one hundred wonderful volunteers matched with over one hundred equally wonderful tamariki right around the mountain. The exceptional success of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Taranaki belongs to the wider community, especially our volunteer mentors who support this great initiative.
All funds raised through the 5% project will go directly towards making meaningful matches between young people and positive adult role models in our community.
